GIGABYTE AB350 Series – AB350-GAMING 3 Motherboard Unboxing & Overview

Hey Fans, Welcome back to GIGABYTE’s Motherboards and BRIX YouTube Channel. My name is Leon Chen, and again, for all of you AMD fans if you guys haven’t heard the new Ryzen processor is out and we want to share with you guys the different boards that GIGABYTE has that supports the new AM4 platform from AMD. To my right here I have an AB350-Gaming 3 So let’s show you guys what this board features so you know what to expect when you build your new AM4 PC, this board supports the RGB fusion so it has multi-color LED support it has Smart Fan 5 so you have control over your fans as well as you have all those hybrid fan pin headers for liquid cooling support, water flow sensor support all these are at your fingertips and you can control it even in the BIOS. This board of course is VR ready for the next generation of gaming for all of you guys that are trying to get into VR this definitely satisfies that VR condition so if you want to do or try and get an understanding of what the hype is about this is definitely one of the boards to look at it also supports USB 3.1 Gen2 for all of you people that want to be future-proofed when 3.1 devices start coming out. You have your NVMe PCIe ready M.2 support so it goes up to 22110mm Okay, so as you look on the front of the box you can see this board does support Ryzen it supports all the CPUs from the 1800X all the way down to the 1700s it is a B350 chipset as we move to the back you can see on the RGB Fusion it shows that accent LED overlay which you’ll see a little bit more later and in detail when we get to the board it has support for RGBW, RGB/UV, as well just standard RGB LED strips. You have your Smart Fan 5 with 6 temperature sensors and 5 fan pin headers. Onboard you have your audio, your AMP-UP audio, to give you the best audio performance and of course you have your Realtek LAN with cFosSpeed to give you packet prioritization and a better internet experience. You also have your USB 3.1 Gen2 and your USB DAC-UP 2s, and our USB DAC-UP 2s give users the option of adjusting their voltage to compensate for longer cable lengths or for power-hungry devices that often drop the connection due to the lack of power a standard USB port provides and we talked about the M.2 and of course it has the Ultra Durable PCIe armor so let’s look at the accessories first and then we’ll take the board out and we’ll have a closer look. All right so here’s, all of the accessories in the box out laid out in front of you so you can see what comes with it you have your AB350-Gaming 3 users manual you have a multilingual installation guide, you have the driver disk for the motherboard. Of course, make sure you to get the most updated drivers go on to the GIGABYTE website under your product category to make sure you have the most updated drivers. You have an extension cable for the LED pin headers and this supports that bottom pin header that supports the RGBW or RGB/UV LED strips. You have your rear I/O, and of course this is all in black and has all of the different connectors and I/O ports labeled for all of the audio. You have 2 packs of SATA cables and each pack contains one right angle connector so you have a total of 4 SATA cables here you have your G-Connector here so you can actually connect all of your front panel pin headers and easily connect it inside the chassis directly onto the motherboard and of course a GIGABYTE Gaming case badge. So let’s get all this cleaned up and we’ll move over to the motherboard. Alright AMD Fans so we have the board let’s talk about it. You can see that it’s in the classic black and red AMD color scheme we have that AM4 socket here if you guys are planning on using the same cooler it still has that retention bracket so if you’re using a cooler that utilizes this retention bracket you can still continue to use the same one if you have a cooler that implements a new backplate you have to purchase a new back plate from the third party cooler manufacturer or you can just purchase a new cooler all together. Now earlier we talked about Smart Fan 5 and we said that this board has a total of 5 Hybrid Fan Pin Headers So let’s do a quick count for you guys. We have 2 hybrid fan pin headers at the top for the CPU, 1 on the right of the board, another one on the bottom of the board, and another one on the opposite side of the board so that gives you a total of 5 hybrid fan pin headers to cool your PC down for whatever you need it to do. You have your CPU power here four DIMMs to support DDR4 memory, an accent LED overlay that can actually be changed out and removed or swapped out for different types of styles and designs. You have your 24 pin power connector 2 SATA’s that are vertically mounted or vertically facing and then you have another 2 SATA’s at the bottom here that are right angled, facing away from the board and right below that you have an additional 2 more SATA’s that are vertically facing or upward facing as well and below that you have your front panel pin headers. Earlier we showed you that G-Connector which allows you to connect all of your Chassis pins directly to the G-Connector first and then into that front panel pin header slot. Right next to that you have your USB 3.0 header your fan header that we showed you earlier and an additional 2 USB 2.0s and your front panel audio and you can see right here we have that audio noise trace guard trace path here that protects the digital and analog side to prevent any distortion or any interference. You have 2 PCIe slots with Ultra Durable metal shielding to protect your heavier graphics cards in case you want to do any type of VR you’re using a brand new graphics card that has some weight this will protect your PCIe slot from distorting or actually being pulled out of the motherboard and of course you have your M.2 that goes up to 110 millimeters in length and that’s a 22 110. Let’s move to the rear I/O so you can get a better look at what types of connections you have available you have your PS/2, you have a total of 1, 2, 3, 4 USB 3.1 Gen1s As well as a USB DAC-UP 2 here and then you have 2 USB 3.1 Gen2s in Type-A and your video outputs you have a DVI-D and an HDMI and of course you have that Realtek NIC here that incorporates with cFosSpeed so you can do some packet prioritization and get a better internet experience while you’re using this motherboard.   1. Is the PCB brown or black? I have trust issues with MSI and Gigabyte whose boards look black, but are brown when you open the damn box. (Gigabyte B85M-HD3-A and MSI Z170A PC Mate)

  3. I was riding that Ryzen hype. This board looks good on paper, but there seems to be a lot of issues with BIOs and RAM compatibility. Support has not been super helpful either. Posts on the official gigabyte forum seems to indicate very minimal support for this board in terms of updates, etc. Beware!

  4. When will there be a support for 2666 Mhz RAM and more? My AB350M-GAMING 3 won't boot with more than 2133 Mhz frequency.

  5. I literally can't OC anything on the board. No Ram OC, no CPU OC… No nothing. I can't even OC to the default turbo speeds. I also can't update the BIOS. FML please send instruction.

  6. how many fan option except ryzen cpu fan…actually i have CORSAIR SPEC tower … and i need maximum of 5 rgb led fan excluding ryzen cpu fan…please suggest me how i do???

  8. I got my bios not booting with flareX 2*8Go 2400Mhz and Ryzen 1600X and i could update to F6, but it stopped working suddently, tried reset CMOS, removed battery, remove ram changed slot, changed ram …

  10. I'm getting this motherboard along with the AMD Ryzen 5 1600 next week, but the 1600 is only supported since the latest BIOS update (F6). Will it still boot up well enough for me to flash it to that version if it arrives with an older BIOS version?

  11. When will the soft bricking issue be resolved, where you have to remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes to be able to start the PC? Can it be fixed with a BIOS update or is it a hardware fault?

  13. hi i love gigabyte motherboard but like every other company have the same colors white and red the only black color motherboard I found thats 120-130$ is the Asus strix b350f I want to ask you are you gonna make a motherboard thats black and blue around 130-140-150$? Like the z170 designare

  14. i only see 1 CPU_Fan at the top of the board … the other is named CPU_Opt …. so thats a total of 4 cooler at best ?

  15. He failed to mention that it also runs The new A series APUs. I am running an A12-9800, BIOS F8, Wraith Max cooler and Sapphire R9-270X. There is plenty of room for the RAM and 2 side 120mm fans. The RGB works well with the board RGB system.

    Like what to use the DAC port for? (will a USB M-Audio sound card benefit?)

  20. Hi, i recently tried to make a pc build using
    – ryzen 5 2400g
    – gigabyte b350 gaming 3
    – corsair 2x4gb ddr4 2400 Mhz
    Currently I am not even able to post. The motherboard box has ryzen logo drawn on it(not sticker that comes with ryzen 2000 deaktop ready).
    I gave the motherboard to a guy to update the bios, which according to him, he did. But still no post when i put my ryzen apu with corsair ram. a8 amd processor with corsair ram(2400mhz) does run on an asus itx motherboard but not on gigabyte b350 gaming 3. I am out of ideas here. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

  21. Tell them if Motherboard can support 3T, 4T, 10T hard disk or large hards, and need to be activated something from the bios
    I have Seagate BarraCuda 3TB END cant instal windows 10 because it is in GPT format and when converts it into MBR remains unformatted 780 gb

  22. WARNING:
    I've been using this board for half a year now, i'm on the F21 bios and recently the system has started to give me high dpc latency.
    Replaced everything but the motherboard and the problem persisted.
    Last night i turned my computer on after work, ethernet port was not working correctly so i plugged in a usb-ethernet adapter, started playing a game.
    Computer froze after a few minutes.
    Went into bios and here's what i found:

    Bios had changed settings to allow for more overclocking with liquid nitrogen, it had changed the baseclock from 100Mhz to 105, it had raised the voltage on vrmsoc and cpu.
    This caused my nvme drive to not be recognized, my cpu got way too hot aswell as the socket itself.
    I had to pull the battery to reset the bios because the overclock didn't go away after i disabled it.
    My smart fan in bios will no longer controll the fans correctly and the system is now having even more latency causing severe audio stuttering.

    This is what you get when you buy gigabyte hardware, they are reckless with their bioses and i think the southbridge is having a bad time aswell.
