The Most Powerful 13″ UltraBook // Razer Blade Stealth 13 Review

So this is the Razer Blade Stealth 13, I purposely
did not clean it because I wanted to show you guys exactly what this laptop looks like
after two weeks of use. This is black anodized aluminum, it looks
gorgeous when you don’t touch it, but after two weeks it looks like slimmer from Ghostbusters
made love to my laptop. This year for the first time they’ve increased
the size of the chassis to incorporate the more powerful 10th gen CPUs and a GTX 1650
Max Q. Now, they’ve done this in a 13.3 inch form
factor. That is a very small laptop to have a dedicated
GPU that powerful inside of it. In fact, I think this is the most powerful
13-inch laptop I’ve ever used. So I just wiped down the laptop gave it a
little shower, a haircut and everything is looking nice and clean! Port set up, similar to the previous model
USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3, USB-A, headphone jack. The other side, you get another USB Type-C
port this one is not Thunderbolt 3, but it does support power delivery and USB-A. You have four lanes for PCIe which means you
can hook up an external GPU and take advantage of it. Now because this is using a 1650, it comes
with some great power and with great power comes bigger power bricks. Instead of the regular 65-watt power brick
that you got in the previous model it’s now a bit heavier at a hundred watts. So inside not much has changed very similar
to the previous model, but you do have a better cooling solution like this is something you’re
not going to see in your typical 13 inch ultrabook. This is some great engineering a lot of copper
is being used to keep the GPU and CPU cools. You do have a two fan solution you have an
upgradeable or swappable NVME SSD. This one has pretty good read and write speeds
and you have a brand new Wi-Fi 6 compatible card. This can be swapped out down the road but
if you have a router and a modem that can take advantage of it, you should see some
pretty good speeds. Battery life, only five hours and 15 minutes
doing productivity. It’s not the best so my suggestion is do not
buy the 4K model because you’re probably gonna get like five minutes but for full HD you’re
getting about five hours before needing to charge. So the display is the same as the previous
mode,l great color reproduction good for content creators, and most importantly for gamers. Windows Hello on the top to quickly log you
in. Speakers sound great because they’re on the
top same as the previous model. Touchpad one of the better ones out there
not as good as the Surface Laptop, but definitely up there. Keyboard not a fan of! I just don’t like the placement of the right
shift key. It’s just a pain in the butt to get your finger
to and you’ll find yourself making a lot of mistakes when you’re typing. Performance is what really matters though. This is a 13-inch laptop and hands down one
of the most powerful 13-inch laptops I’ve ever used. My unit is coming with an i7 10th gen processor,
16 gigabytes of RAM, and of course the GTX 1650 max q. I have to say this is a 13-inch laptop I’d
be comfortable taking on the road with me to do a little bit of content creation. I could comfortably edit a video in 1080p
make changes to a 4K edit pump it out get some really good render times compared to
like a regular Ultrabook and say, you know what I didn’t have to bring my clunkier 15
inch laptop with me. Now gamers you do get some good performance. You’re not gonna be playing the newer titles
on like high settings maxed out or anything but older titles can handle fine on high but
the newer ones you’re gonna have to drop it down to medium. Now heat management on this laptop is really
good. It doesn’t get hot around keyboard area never
surpassing 45 degree Celsius. Internally CPU temps never surpassed 70 degrees. It doesn’t thermal throttle, it just power
throttles. If you’re utilizing the CPU to 100%, you’re
gonna get clock speeds between 1.6 to 1.8, if you’re utilizing the CPU and GPU to 100%
clock speeds will go well below base clock to about one gigahertz. If you’re doing more of a balanced workload,
you’ll get better results because things are not consistently going at the same time and
CPU speeds should stay around 2 to 2.2 gigahertz. So here are my closing thoughts the stealth
13 with the GTX 1650 is definitely an expensive laptop and I know a lot of you out there gonna
make the argument that you can go out and buy a regular gaming laptop with better performance
for a similar price. And you’re absolutely right you can and if
you’re gonna be gaming and you’re not traveling or moving around a lot that’s definitely the
better option, but there are people out there who need to travel as light as possible with
maximum performance. Razor has created something in a 13-inch form
factor that doesn’t really exist with any other manufacturer. If that person is you, whether you’re a student
or someone in a business profession, then this will give you a lot more power than your
typical 13-inch ultrabook. Anyways, that wraps up my review of the Stealth
13 with the GTX 1650, let me know your thoughts in the comments below like the video if you
liked it, subscribe if you haven’t already and I’ll see you guys in the next video!

  1. Here it is! Razer Blade Stealth 13 with a GTX 1650 Max-Q. This is some great performance for an ultrabook but it comes at a kidney reducing price tag! Hit me up on discord if you have any questions. discord.gg/mattmoniz

  2. For a business professional, I agree this is prefect. But for students who are already in neck deep loans, not so much.

  3. I'm sorry what? So if you want to use the full capabilities of the laptop, the CPU can't even remain cool enough to operate at base? WTF? that's not an acceptable cooling solution. This shouldn't even be on sale.

  4. My favourite laptop by far but a huge price tag to match. Literally requested on r/razer feedback 6 months ago to make this exact thing.

  5. I can't find no full reviews on the Alienware m17 top spec laptop. Will you be the guy to complete the task?

  6. REMEMBER guys! … Razer laptops become problematic just within a year. Many reviewers deliberately skip this part due to ad/sponsorhip.

    you've been warned

  7. I hate razer because their laptops don’t last a single year without failing. Had 4 razers and every single one died in 3 months of use. Got a refound

  8. I got to give it to Razer. I think it's the first time I see a tech company going back on their design and thickening a product to "make room" for better hardware. It's extremely sensible but nobody does that 👏👏👏. Still…it's a +2000 US$ ultrabook with a 1650 Maxq, it's a waste of money and anybody should be ashamed for even considering it.

  9. The MacBook Pro 13 (28W edition) has a way faster CPU when under 100% load since it practically stays above 2.8 GHz all the time. Throttling below 2GHz is a joke. Not even the Ice Lake/Sunny Cove IPC increase can save it.

  10. Finally! a Dedicated card in a 13…… I thought the day would never come besides the Surface book 2…. This is a useable unit, game, edit and all small and portable. I will be buying one as soon as I free up some duckies

  11. The MSI prestige 14 is the better buy, it has the better CPU option for a better price. If you are getting the same CPU as the razor you're talkin $600 in savings. it looks better and the larger screen is almost the same footprint as the razor

  12. hey !!.. matthew………i want to buy one plus 7t pro,but i'm little bit worry about that, is the phone is really water resistant or not like the previous ones, please can do a water test for one plus 7t pro, please

  16. I can see why it's priced so high. Razer is pretty much the only tech company to even have a 13 inch GAMING laptop. They can price it as high as they want. Once competitors catch up, we will literally get what we have all been waiting for: Portability and performance that doesn't break the bank too much. This laptop is a stepping stone and I'm hella excited for what's to come.

  17. Great video! I'm currently looking to get a new laptop, and have been looking at the Razer Blade Stealth 13, but the Mercury White with 16gb ram and only Intel Iris plus graphics. I'm really focused on a good keyboard, trackpad, and battery life. this seem like a good purchase?

  18. why is everyone blinded by this razor brand when there is an equal if not amazing laptop MSI prestige 14 which 1 inch bigger in screen size and has a 6 core CPU U series with 1650

  19. Hardware Canucks said in their video about the Stealth that it is weaker than the last model in matter of performance… Any thoughts on that?

  20. What exactly was running for the battery test? I’m a pharmacy student who wants a laptop that can be a great ultrabook by day and pretty good gaming notebook by night. I’m hoping for 7 hours of use, so ,between word and YouTube, can this laptop do 7 hours?

  21. Great review! I've waited a long time for something like this. Bought it as soon as it came out. Absolutely love it. The lower clock speeds at full load haven't been a problem at all. One thing you forgot to mention Matt is USB-C charging. I use it with a Thunderbolt 3 dock at home, it's so nice being able to just plug in the one cable.

  22. Not a big fan of Razer's bulky power brick. Can I use one of those Apple's Macbook Pro power adapter? I've been searching a powerful laptop in a small formfactor for ages. This could be my next laptop.

  23. Hey man great video
Do you have any idea about surface book 3, about its launch. I was waiting for SB3 for about 5 months and there wasn’t a single mention of it in event and I really have no clue right now whether to get a laptop or wait. Any answer would be helpful

  24. Please be honest. What is the best laptop with the best thermals under heavy load and and quiet fans? Using it for light gaming and projects.

  25. hey !!.. matthew………i want to buy one plus 7t pro,but i'm little bit worry about that, is the phone is really water resistant or not like the previous ones, please can do a water test for one plus 7t pro, please

  29. how is the keyboard? is it mushy, clicky. When you push on it does it flex? Keyboard is important, dont just say the shift key sucks

  30. Great review! I have the laptop and I am trying to figure out what is going on with the cpu as well. I noticed that some benchmarks are not working well with the cpu. As soon as I open CPUZ or cinebench the cpu clocks go under 2 ghz. When I ran cinebench with throttlestop tools on the clocks went back to normal and I got an score over 750, just like other laptops with the 10th gen cpu. I hope Razer releases an update to fix it.
You mentioned in the comments that you are talking to Razer about it. Did they acknowledge the problem?

  31. Razer is killing me. They’ve made a set of laptops that would be killer machine learning / data science developer units if only the freaking supported Linux. It’s like their heads are so far up gamers asses they don’t realize there’s a huge and growing non-gamer market out there. I guess they’re making so much off gamers they can leave 100s of millions of dollars on the table. It’s their decision of course but it’s just so annoying. Worst part is when I last asked support about putting Linux on the machine I was told it would void my warranty – sheesh. Sorry venting cause I want one. ;s

  32. i know it is too early to tell but a lot of folks say that razer laptops tend to break after a year. pretty significant if you are going to spend 2k

  33. This laptop is exactly what I need. But, I bought XPS 15 as a light but powerful laptop, just last month. This one seems much more powerful especially because of better thermals.

  34. 5 hours is a pretty decent uptime considering what's in the package. A tempting little device, but that keyboard is just unusable imo. If they had opted for a lesser quality speakers and shoved them somewhere else, and made the keyboard full width, then maybe. The HP Sepctre X360 got that part right.

  35. it is actually the cheapest option around here currently, if you consider and require the following:
    – GTX1650
    – USB-C charging
    – min 16GB ram

only maybe latest Dell XPS 15 is cheaper when on sale, but i had the unfortunate experience with this in the past, and their chassis has been the same for years with horrific heat management :/

  36. I bought one of these as soon as they came out and I absolutely love it. I'm definitely in their target market with this device — someone who likes to travel around to work (remote worker) who wants some decent GPU performance for casual gaming. This is as close to the perfect laptop that exists for someone like me.

  37. Eat your words! Quoted from the early 2019 Stealth video "well you cant stick a GTX 1050 in a 13 inch laptop , it will overheat".

You always sound like you have a cold too. On another note your videos are really good! I'm not a nasty person I promise.

  38. Is this still the powerful when compared with Dell XPS 13 with 6-Core Intel 10th Gen processor? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xniDjNQtqyg
