Download TrueOS 2017 ISO www.trueos.org Create Virtual Machine on VMware Workstation/Player Choose “Other” and “FreeBSD 64-bit” (Optional) Start TrueOS 2017 Installation Select Language TrueOS Desktop TrueOS 2017 Installation takes about 10-15 minutes. TrueOS installation is completed. Reboot the system Select Language Time Zone Set system hostname and domain name. Set root password. Create a new user and set password. Select optional services TrueOS initial setup is completed. Install VMware Tools sudo pkg update sudo pkg install bash nano sudo nano /etc/fstab Save and Exit Mouse integration is not working now. Fit Guest Now is grayed out. Stop pcdm service sudo rc-service pcdm stop Install Open VM Tools pkg install open-vm-tools pkg install xf86-video-vmware pkg install xf86-input-vmmouse Xorg -configure Test VMware Tools Features Fit Guest Now, Drag-Drop File, Clipboard Sharing and Mouse Integration TrueOS 2017 Review TrueOS (formerly PC-BSD or PCBSD), is a Unix-like desktop-oriented operating system built upon the most recent releases of FreeBSD-CURRENT. TrueOS 2017.02.22 includes several bug fixes, a few new services and package updates. It also automatically unmounts USB devices when the user ceases accessing the device.   2. VM freezes on boot at "Link state changed to up". Tried it with your directions and with other directions. Am I missing something? Using TrueOS-Server-2017-03-31-x64-DVD.iso, VMware Workstation 12 Pro

  3. Did you remove the USB controller and soundcard from the VM out of personal preference or because they are unsupported by the Guest OS?

    pkg install open-vm-tools

    cp /root/xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf
